My comments on the article, It is always difficult for astrologers to determine which date to take as the starting point when it comes to a country or a city. They choose from several dates; usually it is the day of independence, the day of the constitution, or another significant day for the country that influenced its history and independence. In the case of Ukraine the matter is altogether confusing, since the resolution on independence took place on July 16, 1990, while on August 24, 1991, the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR adopted the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine.

The Constitution was adopted on June 28, 1996. Sanjay Rath took the official date of Ukraine's independence as the birth date of the state, by analogy with America. The Ascendant, Lagna, or rising constellation of Ukraine is Sagittarius. The rising constellation does not influence character in Jyotish, as is customary in Western astrology. But it determines appearance, characteristics of the body and the general physical condition.
