What is question astrology?
If you have been interested in astrology, you have probably encountered the terms horary astrology or prashna. In Jyotish, prashna is a separate part of the tradition: it works not with a person's birth chart, but with the chart of the moment when a question is asked.
Historically, question astrology grew naturally from observing nature and omens. Later, those observations began to form a system and became a separate branch of astrology.
There is a saying: "When trouble comes, open the gates." I have often noticed that sayings like this did not appear by accident. They are also observations of omens that reached us as folk wisdom.
For a modern person, anything that is not explained scientifically requires additional evidence. In this context, one can recall the work of Simon Shnoll, who studied patterns connected, among other things, with the position of the Moon: material about S. E. Shnoll's work.
In question astrology, the Moon has a fundamental role. The Moon's position in the question chart helps determine whether the chart answers the question that was asked. In the Western horary branch this is called the radicality of the chart; in Jyotish, prashna-shuddhi: how cleanly the question was asked and whether an interpretation can be made from the chart.
Traditionally, it is considered proper to answer only a humble and sincere request. If a person comes to "test the astrologer", the prediction should not be given, because the astrologer will not be able to reach the essence of the matter. If the motive is clean and the person truly wants to know, the question deserves attention.
What must be fixed
From the mechanics of building a question chart, three things matter:
- the exact birth time of the question;
- the place where the question was asked;
- the question itself.
The ascendant, or lagna, changes roughly every 2 hours. That is why there is usually no practical sense in asking the same question more often than that. The rule can be broken when the questions are symbolically connected, but if you do not understand the details, it is better to keep at least about a 2-hour interval.
After the time is fixed, the most important thing is the meaning of the question. It must fit into a set of astrological symbols.
What symbolism means
Symbolism is hard to explain briefly, but let us try.
Imagine that you are surrounded by a school board where you have pinned photographs and stretched threads between them, like a detective. No matter how you arrange the photographs, they will still form groups: some on the right, some on the left, others behind. Symbolism is the group of photographs and the links between them. Then you have to understand the story of each photograph.
If, while placing the photographs on the board, you use a certain rule, similar photographs will occupy similar places each time. It is not accidental that in detective stories the central place is often given to the main suspect, while the other facts are arranged around that center.
In esotericism in general, not only in astrology, the principle of correspondence is used. It was described in the Emerald Tablet. If you want to go deeper into this topic, my book Astrology without an astrologer may help. But such deep knowledge is not required for asking a question correctly.
It is enough to know that symbolism has logic. It is not random and it relies on the laws of nature. In a simplified form, each of us lives through a dramatic story. The question should be asked about the moment of that story that is being lived right now.
The kolobok example
Let us take the fairy tale of Kolobok.
The story begins with the grandmother scraping the bins, baking the little round bread, and placing it on the windowsill to cool. This is the beginning of the story, and now Kolobok becomes the questioner.
If Kolobok starts asking questions about the golden fish, question astrology will not help him. Both tales have an old man and an old woman, but they are different stories. With such a question, the chart will not be radical, meaning the question will not have an interpretable answer.
But if Kolobok asks about his own story, such a question can have an answer. For example, he may want to understand what lies beyond the window and what his next step will be. In that case, question astrology can say that Kolobok will meet new acquaintances.
It will not name the new acquaintance, age, or financial status. But it can symbolically show what kind of meeting it will be and describe the person or figure in broad terms. For Kolobok, the first meeting will be with an enemy, but critical consequences can be avoided. The enemy will be quick and short. In the tale, the first one Kolobok meets is the hare.
How to ask a question correctly
The principle is simple. Before asking, pause and ask yourself: what is bothering me right now? What choice am I facing? What frightens or inspires me at this exact moment?
If some event has already happened, you can ask what its consequences will be. You should not use question astrology for betting. But it can help make life calmer and more predictable.
Try to ask questions whose answers will not destroy your inner state. For example, question astrology can answer whether a person is alive or not. But ask yourself how much you truly need to know that answer right now. Sometimes uncertainty is healing during certain periods of life. When you are ready, the answer may come by itself.
Question astrology is a very powerful technique. Its answers cannot be obtained in the same way by other methods.
Tarot and other forms of divination often give information that a person needs to know at a particular moment so the balance is not disturbed. That is not always information about the future. Question astrology works differently: it gives information about a slice of time represented as a formula. It depends on you which variables you place into that formula.
AI instead of an astrologer
I have worked with artificial intelligence for a long time. At first I simply wanted to create a set of astrological prompts for AI chats. That idea failed loudly.
I spent about a day tuning the prompt. It became very large, and it still required intermediate verification of the information processed by the artificial intelligence. A single AI request cannot produce a high-quality answer. But through a series of correctly built questions that change depending on context, AI managed not only to form quality answers, but also to surprise me as an astrologer.
We live in a very interesting time. Artificial intelligence is a strong tool, but without a human it is useless. All the services I have made are, in essence, research. Humanity has only begun to master AI, and marketing often prevents us from seeing how to use it properly.
I checked how other astrologers answer question astrology requests and was surprised by how little information they give, and sometimes how debatable that information is.
How the question chart service works
Today question astrology works inside the Telegram bot @hidden_world_space_bot and on the website under Services - Question chart. The calculation logic is the same, but payment terms on the website and in Telegram may differ.
On the website, you need to sign in. After registration, promo stars are added to your account, and you can use them to try most services for free. You can also subscribe and use subscription requests for question charts. The current price is always shown directly in the service interface.
In our culture, people traditionally go to a fortune-teller, spend the same amount or even more, stand in lines, and often remain unhappy with the answers. Now there is an alternative in your pocket.
Of course, we heat the planet a little by paying for AI and its infrastructure, and perhaps fortune-tellers will not be pleased. But not everyone can master the technique easily, so there will be enough work for everyone.
Use it. Those who try it often return and use it again. In our restless time, question astrology can help make life calmer or at least give you a chance to prepare for the next hard situation.
