Description of 72 Realities. (Careful, long post!)

Facebook archive. First published on 2015-01-22.

Wikipedia, as usual, makes it very complicated and unclear, so here is my own version: Reality is the circumstances that surround a being at a given moment in time. When we are talking about time, there should be at least three divisions of reality, corresponding to the three facets of time:

  • the reality of the past is our memory.
  • the reality of the future is our plans, dreams, and goals.
  • the reality of the present is objective reality. Circumstances can be: dependent on us, independent of us, and indirectly dependent on us. Accordingly, multiplying one by the other produced three realities with three different circumstances, for a total of nine kinds of reality. Whereas, according to my intuitive perception of the world, there should have been only one reality. But it turned out that this was not all. A being is ... it is impossible to define what a being is, so this will be only about the human being. A human being is a biomechanical structure endowed with reason. Reason is still-unexamined biocurrents of the brain or a mystical force; in Eastern teachings, reason is part of the soul. Reason consists of individuality, or somehow touches it, and something else that Freud called the superego, the subconscious, and Eastern teachings call buddhi. As soon as reason is lost, individuality is lost, and vice versa. I omit the other details. So, our individuality, while being in objective reality, perceives the world through the biomechanical sensors of our body, or, in other words, the organs of perception. At the moment when we listen to an interlocutor's story, we also partly visualize it and experience a complex of emotions; accordingly, this is also a certain kind of reality, and there are also 9 of them, ultimately 45 realities. Our thoughts are another kind of realities, because if a person has reason, he thinks, and we do not know how to think without words and pictures, and sometimes we enter our inner world so densely that the surrounding reality of our body is lost; I add another 9 realities of our thoughts, 54 realities in all. A poorly described part of reality, but one that also exists, is mystical reality; for a believer, this is the reality of the spiritual component of his personality and faith; for a mystic, this is the reality of his faith and vision, intuitive feeling, or something similar, i.e. ultimately again plus nine, producing 63 types of reality. I already want to finish myself, but the realities do not end; one more type of reality is imposed reality. Reality under hypnosis, during a trick shown by a fakir on stage, the reality of society: you must start a family, not break the law, etc.; here too is the reality of propaganda, damned ukrops and vatniks, the reality of a salesperson who convinces you that Apple products are the best in the world, i.e. another 9 kinds of imposed reality, 72 in all.

Now the list of these realities:

  1. objective reality or bodily reality

  2. dream reality

  3. hallucination reality

  4. entertainment reality

  5. narrator reality

  6. thought reality

  7. mystical reality

  8. imposed reality

Now let us calculate how much time we spend in each reality. There are 24 hours in a day, of which we sleep 8 hours, sometimes more, sometimes less, on average 8, i.e. 30% we are in dream reality. Hallucinations almost do not appear for some people, while for others they take up quite a lot of time. On average, serious illnesses happen to a person once a year, and we consume alcohol at least once a month, and these are not always hallucinations. Therefore, on average, I will give 1% to this reality.

Entertainment reality and narrator reality occupy all our free time; under standard conditions with a five-day week, this is about 25% of our time, but during this time we also fulfill certain obligations and mechanical actions, so I will give these two realities 20%, 10% to each, for convenience. Mystical reality is great for believers and almost absent among skeptics. It is hard to calculate, but it seems to me that it is manifested the same way as hallucination reality, so also 1% of the time.

Now all together, but conditionally calculated:

  1. objective reality or bodily reality - 15%

  2. dream reality - 30%

  3. hallucination reality - 1%

  4. entertainment reality - 10%

  5. narrator reality - 10%

  6. thought reality - 3%

  7. mystical reality - 1%

  8. imposed reality - 30% And now I will statistically spread these data across the three times, giving one half to the present, while the past and future divide their half equally. I.e.

  9. objective reality or bodily reality - 7.5%

  10. dream reality - 15%

  11. hallucination reality - 0.5%

  12. entertainment reality - 5%

  13. narrator reality - 5%

  14. thought reality - 1.5%

  15. mystical reality - 0.5%

  16. imposed reality - 15%

In the end, omitting the details, a person lives in three realities: in dream and imposed reality a person lives the greater part of his life, and the smaller part of life in entertainment. We visit objective reality occasionally, but regularly. If we omit even more details, it turns out that a person lives almost 90% of his life in his imagination, whether this imagination is imposed or not. We are not physical beings; we are beings of inner illusions and fears, deceptions and empty ideas.

Yoga is characterized by a large number of altered states of consciousness; so there is a state of consciousness in which time flows more slowly than usual, and this state is hard to reach. Therefore I will simply describe it: In this state, consciousness begins to perceive objective reality; all the details of this reality strive to occupy the entire being of the person. One can spend a long time looking at some simple thing.

A piece of stone reveals a large number of veins and patterns; every flower is endowed with an enormous number of details that You did not notice throughout Your life. Any work of art pales before the creation of nature. But if one lives in the future and constantly remains in imposed reality, You will understand the uselessness of Your existence. Your unneededness and insignificance.

If one stops thinking altogether and reduces sleep time, imposed reality will be able to impose entertainment on You as well, saying these entertainments are cooler than others, and all of society entertains itself in this or that way. If the narrator also imposes ideas and stories on You, then Your life will completely turn into imposed reality. After all, dreams often contain what worries a person during the day. In the end, there will be at least 85% imposed reality, 15 % objective reality, which can also be decorated to match the imposed one.

This simple idea is practically unattainable for the majority. If You are able to realize it, it means You are capable of thinking. And this means that at most You belong to 3% of the earth's population. I.e. there are at most 200 million of us with You, against 7 billion around the world.

P.S. If you do not want to, still put it. This is a kind of roll call of thinking people. It is not necessary to share my ideas and thoughts; the main thing is to have your own.
