The Error of Democracy - the Ruling Minority.

Facebook archive. First published on 10.05.2024.

I will explain this principle with an example. In a democratic system, decisions are made by the majority. There is a rationale in this, because if the majority is not satisfied, it will regain power by virtue of its numbers. The majority is a force that even kings reckoned with; they feared it, because the majority is capable of rebelling.

Modern society has disfigured this simple idea. In the 2019 elections, in the second round, the majority won: 73.23% of voters. Unique support for an actor and comedian. But this is manipulation, because turnout in the election was 61.37%, which means that 38.63% did not vote for Zelensky. Also, 16.43% of the total number of voters, who gave their vote to Petro Poroshenko, did not vote for Zelensky.

At this point a drumroll sounds: if you add 38.63% to 16.43%, the result is 55.06% who did not give their vote to Zelensky. And this means that a minority came to power, convinced us that they were the majority, usurped power, raped the Constitution and the laws of Ukraine, and brought war into our homes.

There is no trick or manipulation here. Check it and recalculate it yourself. That is the simple idea - to see the broad picture, and what historical conclusions it can lead to.
